This May sees Carl’s and Hardee’s get in on the chicken sandwich war. The brand write their new sandwiches are a “reimagining” of their “famous Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders into three new craveable builds.” The three new options hitting menus are as follows:
- Hand-Breaded Chicken Sandwich – all white meat chicken hand-breaded and fried, served on a toasted potato bun with deli pickles and mayonnaise
- Hand-Breaded Chicken & Waffle Breakfast Sandwich – served between Belgian waffle buns, all white meat chicken hand-breaded and fried, topped with Maple Butter Glaze
- Hardee’s Hand-Breaded Chicken Biscuit – all white meat chicken hand-breaded and fried, served on a Hardee’s Made from Scratch buttermilk biscuit
The Hand-Breaded Chicken tenders that launched more than a decade ago have apparently sold over 118 million units per YEAR since their launch – so the base of these sandwiches has been thoroughly fan tested and approved!
The brand writes that the chicken goes through a 6-step hand-breading process in Southern-style flour as well as being marinated in 13 signature seasonings and dipped in buttermilk before that.
Certainly the biscuit and waffle addition to the sandwiches brings something new to the table – where everyone else seems to be seeking to replicate Popeye’s signature style.
