If you’ve been eagerly awaiting the full-scale rollout of the McPlant like we have, you might find yourself asking, when will that be? The new plant-based burger, a link up between McDonald’s and Beyond Meat has been tested in limited trials around the country, but has yet to see a formal release. The burger has also been spotted around the world with a national menu release in the U.K. most notable.
You might need to wait a little longer though sadly. In this story by Restaurant Business Online, the the article references analyst Peter Saleh and data suggesting that limited trial sales are faring poorly. The story writes that:
“operators are selling about 20 McPlant burgers a day in the Dallas and San Francisco markets. Yet restaurants in rural areas of East Texas are only selling three to five sandwiches per day. By contrast, Saleh wrote, early tests of the McPlant in eight locations sold about 70 per day, enough to warrant the expanded test McDonald’s officially announced in January.
For now, it looks like we’ll have to wait a little while longer until we can get our hands on this one – maybe with some additional tweaks. In the interim, check out our full list of plant-based options at fast food locations in the US.
