Arby’s Deep Fried Turkey Club sandwich review

Arby's Deep Fried Turkey Club

With turkey season right around the corner, this new sandwich from Arby’s looks set to satiate seasonal cravings. After my last trip to Arby’s and their excellent beer battered fish sandwich, I was fairly keen to sample this one. After all – deep fried turkey!

First up here’s some pictures of the sandwich in all its (messy) glory:

As you can see from the first shot, the sandwich wasn’t put together with much care; bits hanging out the sides and more thrown together than assembled with care. I won’t lie, it dampened my excitement to dig in.

The headline item here is of course the deep fried turkey. If you hadn’t told me it wasn’t deep fried, I’m not sure I’d know the difference over roast (and I do believe Arby’s say these are roasted first). I’d have to say the frying didn’t have anything in particular that I could detect. Unless of course the deep fry was responsible for the texture – the turkey was pretty mushy, which was a big let down. I love the meaty chew of good quality roast turkey, but again, none of that here.

Toppings wise, the bacon was the standout item for me, the medium crisp added some textural interest, while the mild smoke definitely added to the overall flavor; I could probably live without the cheese personally, it felt a little out of place on a club sandwich.

Overall, a bit of let down (especially in contrast to the fish sandwich); a messy sandwich which is ultimately let down by fairly mediocre turkey, a pass for me on this one.
