This sandwich is the older, grown up sibling to Wendy’s newer value spicy crispy chicken sandwich. First up here are some shots of the sandwich:
The first thing that stood out to me was that this sandwich uses identifiable chicken breast meat. The meat was very juicy, and for a fast food sandwich, not overly salty. This was a vast improvement on the reformed nuggets I sampled in the same order.
The exterior breading was also noteworthy, achieving that perfect ratio in terms of meat vs crunch. Just enough, not too much. The lettuce and tomato where kinda forgettable verging on sad, but I did appreciate the fact the sandwich wasn’t drown in mayo like some others.
One mild complaint I had was that the sandwich had little to no kick. For a sandwich marketed as spicy, I could have sworn this was a regular chicken sandwich. Anyone expecting any amount of spice or heat will want to bring their own hot sauce to the party. Other that that, this is an excellent sandwich.
