The long awaited release of McPlant seems ever so tantalizingly close – with news now in that the golden arches rolled out the new plant-based burger across the UK this month. UK fans can now enjoy the much anticipated veggie burger, made in partnership with Beyond Meat. The new burger comes with
- Beyond Meat burger
- Vegan sandwich sauce
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Onion
- Pickles
- Lettuce
- Tomato
- Vegan cheese
- Sesame seed bun
Unlike other brands which have cooked their plant based releases alongside meat which potentially might turn off vegan eaters (Beyond Fried Chicken was an example) McDonald’s UK are keen to state the brand try to keep the baked burger separated from animal products as much as possible writing:
The plant based patty is cooked in an oven, not on the grill. While meat products are also cooked in the oven, this will not be at the same time or using the same equipment as McPlant. McPlant uses specific equipment, including oven trays and tongs, so it will not come into contact with meat products, and the ovens and equipment are cleaned regularly.
The launch price for the McPlant in the UK is £3.39 – roughly $4.50. Here’s hoping we see this one launch stateside in 2022.
